Homework

Hello all! Thank you for your curiosity about my current classes.

Right now the classes are focused on drilling torso and arm movements, and generally using those techniques to explore our ranges of movement and senses of musicality. There is no homework apart from the usual: remember to mindfully be present in your own body as much as possible, drink a lot of water, and try to practice your glute isolations.

Come and dance with us Mondays and/or Thursdays, and learn how you move.


What I've Been Liking on YouTube:

This is a performance by DC's Asharah. She combines a lot of really great technique all into one moving performance. Note particularly the layering of undulations over controlled hip shimmies, and how she emphasizes the stutters and hits of the drumbeats with careful ticking in her ribs, hips, and arms. Also? This is a terrific example of emotional expression in dance. Check it out.
