The A/V Gallery
In August at Pennsic, I performed at the Middle Eastern Expo with two other dancers from the Duende Dance Collective. Both Lane and Kristin perform regularly with Kelly up in Wisconsin, but Kelly wouldn't be attending Pennsic. Through the magic and wonder of YouTube, I was able to jump right in and learn a folkloric-fusion piece already in their repertoire.
It was an incredibly fun experience, a terrific way to get back to dancing after my sabbatical, and a testament to how useful social media (in our case, Twitter and YouTube) can be for collaboration between dancers living hundreds of miles apart.
Bran's improvised, Fosse-esque fusion bellydance performance at the Spirit Moves holiday party in December of 2009. Please excuse the rather noir-style lighting; the studio is not really set up for a performance venue.
