Dance Bio

Bran Cedio began her dance studies in 1983. She began studying tap, ballet, and jazz at The Dance Extension in Southeastern CT, and joined their Junior Company at the age of eight. Within a few years she added modern, theatre, and pointe to her curriculum. In her early teens, Bran joined the adult troupe, The Company, and continued to perform year-round at benefits, nursing homes, and large bi-annual productions.

Once at the University of Connecticut, Bran continued to study the nature of movement, particularly within the context of her theatrical and operatic performances. She particularly fell in love with the movements and precision necessary for acting with puppets and while masked in Commedia D'el Arte.

In 2004, Bran was swept away by a bellydance performance at a festival, marvelling at the effusion of joy from the many shapes of women on the stage. She began taking lessons in bellydance and Middle Eastern percussion immediately. And the world opened up.

Since then, Bran has been lucky to learn from a myriad of splendid teachers, including Artemis Mourat, and has begun assimilating what she's learned from her dance teachers over the years into a style that's all her own.
